The Purbrick family over this weekend in the sublime surrounds of the Tahbilk Museum will be showcasing the essence of Tahbilk's longevity - their wines. This is your chance to hear about the Tahbilk story while surrounded by the very history that frames it all whilst tasting the very wines that helped forge it!
Given the occasion, each of the three 150th Anniversary Releases will be on tasting - the only time they will be. Also on tasting will be Tahbilk's iconic '1860 Vines' Shiraz including an exclusive preview of the very highly rated 2007 vintage which, given that there was only 100 odd cases made from this incredibly low-yielding year' could well be the only time it is ever on tasting! As well there will be selections from the 'Reserve', now 'Eric Stevens Purbrick', ranges. AND IN THE CAFE, Chef & Manager Luke Watson will be preparing specially matched dishes to each of the 150th Anniversary releases which will then be offered by the glass to accompany the meal.
PLUS YOU COULD WIN 150 BOTTLES OF MARSANNE VALUED AT MORE THAN $2000! Just by attending our 150th Anniversary Tasting, you can enter a draw to win 150 bottles of 2009 Marsanne!

Starting 8.30am - 1.00pm on the first Saturday of each month this growing community market is a great way to meet friends and give the kids something to do while you browse the many stalls and take in the fantastic views across the lake. This is Victoria's only absolute inland water front market. Attractions include regular children's activities, coffee cart, produce, plants, cakes, sausage sizzle, artist, well being and quality collectables etc. and supports the community raising funds for the Scouts, Lions, CFA and more. The community market has a great atmosphere with music, great views, something to eat & drink, playground and entertainment for the children. Come and have a yarn with the locals and support the community services.
Avenel Produce & Craft Market -
Grow it, bake it and make it! Second Sunday of the month.

The Market has always prided itself on being a unique event in the region. Stall holders are asked to adhere to our core philosophy of supporting solely locally produced, hand-made or home grown/baked goodies. Many stalls have been with the Market since it was initiated by the historic Harvest Homestead and through its consolidation at WB Gadds cosy antique/clothing store. The word in the park today is that they like the warm friendly atmosphere of the new location and the sense of fun about the event each month.
This year the Market has received funding through the Shire of Strathbogie to stage some free live music and children's activities. It is hoped that these features will continue to be a part of the Market's profile into the coming year as it continues to grow to full self-sustenance! We have enjoyed unearthing some local musical talent and parents visiting the Market also seem to appreciate having their small ones occupied while they chat and enjoy the stalls on offer. Our regular face painting fairy Jo will paint grown ups as well as children should the whim strike!
We welcome enquiries about new stalls and hope you will consider dropping by on the next 2nd Sunday in the month.

Violet Town Market - Second Saturday of the month -
Handmade and homemade goods, community group stalls, and the especially famous plant sales!
LOCATION: Recreation Reserve - Tulip Street -
PHONE: 0416 233 584
The market is organised by a sub committee of the Violet Town Action Group Inc., a non-profit community organisation, with all funds raised by the market used for the publication and distribution of the Village Voice community newsletter and for other community facilities and activities. The Violet Town market is reputedly one of the best markets in North East Victoria and attracts up to 200 stalls and patrons of up to 4,000 each month.
Philosophy: since its inception the market has had a 'make, bake or grow it' policy that aims to support those stall holders who make all or the majority of what they sell. Limited sites are available however for manufactured and second hand goods and products. Want to know more about Violet Town? Click here!
