

Avenel is a small community nestled between the Hume Highway and the Goulburn Valley Highway, about 15 minutes south of Nagambie. This township has a unique feel with a thriving community. The history of the area goes into the "Kelly Gang" era with celebrations every year at the Hughes Creek Bridge. Its collection of historic buildings and bridge have been cleverly utilised by the locals and have been recreated into unique accommodation houses and businesses, well worth a look. Visit Harvest Home, with its artful decor and enticing menu, the antique store and cafe, the traditional butcher, beauty therapist, general store and monthly sunday produce market. Longwood, about 10minutes south east of Nagambie, is a small community and within an easy bike ride. Spend some time browsing the amazing array of gemstone jewellery at the Gem Stone House, just sit out the back of the cosy White Hart Hotel and relax with a good glass of amber liquid or fine wine.
